What You Get:
Free access to thousands of ebooks or audiobooks that can be downloaded to your iPad, iPhone, or iPod Touch.
What You Need:
- Your library card
- An iPad, iPhone, or iPod Touch running running iOS v6.0 (or later)
- The Overdrive Media Console app
What you do:
Step 1: First time users will need to download the Overdrive Media Console App from the iTunes App Store or Overdrive's website. Touch the “free” button on the right side of the app and it will change to “install.” Touch “install” and enter your iTunes password if prompted. Once it's entered, the Overdrive Media Console app will install on your device.
Step 2: The first time you open the OMC App, you'll be prompted to authorize it with your Adobe ID and password. If you don't have an ID, follow the prompts to create one on Adobe.com. After you've created the ID, exit Safari, open the OMC App and sign in with your Adobe ID and password.
Step 3: Tap the menu icon in the upper left and then “Add a Library+”. Type “Cincinnati” or your zip code into the search box, then select any of the Public Library of Cincinnati library locations.
Step 4: Tap the star next to “Public Library of Cincinnati and Hamilton County” to add it to your list of favorites. Then tap “Public Libraries...” to open the mobile site. You’re now ready to check out your first ebook or audiobook!
Step 5: Browse or search for MP3, Kindle, or EPUB titles. Tap the “Borrow,” button and enter your library card number and PIN. Tap the "Download" drop-down menu, then select your preferred format and confirm your download. Some titles may not be available because they are already checked out to other customers. If that’s the case, you can join the waiting list, and you’ll be notified by email when the title is ready to be downloaded. MP3 audiobooks and EPUB ebooks will be downloaded directly to Overdrive Media Console. Kindle titles will be delivered to the Kindle reading app.
