Newspaper & Magazine Articles

Magazines and newspapers are a great source of reliable, up-to-the-minute information about retirement planning. Did you know that the library subscribes to online versions of publications like AARP, Money, and the Wall Street Journal (plus hundreds of others) so that you can conduct your research from the comfort of your home or office computer? Retirement Planning Websites

Access websites that offer retirement planning information on topics ranging from 401(k) plans to information about social security. Here are some that we particularly like:

  • 10 Ways To Prepare For Retirement. The Department of Labor provides ideas for retirement planning.
  • Social Security and Pensions. Congressional Budget Office publications on social security and pension matters.
  • What You Should Know About Your Retirement Plan. Information from the Employee Benefits Security Administration that covers different types of retirement plans, when and how to receive benefits, monitoring your plan, and changes that affect your retirement benefit.
  • Go Direct. All federal benefit payments will be handled electronically beginning March 1, 2013. Find out how to sign up for these electronic payments.

You'll find more retirement-related websites in Sites by Subject and Government Resources, directories of websites maintained by library staff.
