Standards of Library Behavior · Library Procedures for Handling Bedbugs

At the Library, the high volume of visitors to our facilities and the fact that our customers take items from the collection home then bring them back, makes it vital that we remain vigilant in watching for bedbugs. Procedures are in place for regular inspections and handling. Library staff members have been trained to quickly report any possible bedbug sightings on returned items and to ask customers with bedbugs to immediately leave the premises. Our Custodial Services staff then implements a procedure for dealing with returned items that may have a bedbug and these steps have been successful in preventing an infestation. To continue this success, all staff members are periodically reminded to remain watchful.
