What’s New · Social Media and the Library

The Library's Facebook page The Library's Facebook page

The first Library “book wagon” took to the rural roads of Greater Cincinnati back in 1927, carrying loads of books on rolling shelves. The mission of these bookmobiles was simple: bring the Library to where the people were. Today the Library carries that same mission into a new frontier: social media!

Facebook

Twitter

They say brevity is the soul of wit. At 140 characters or fewer a tweet, the Library’s Team Tweet is an itty bunch indeed. If you’re constantly checking your feed for the most creative hashtags and retweets, then make sure you follow @cincylibrary. Librarians and staff from across our 41 branches are always logged on, ready to share the Library’s connection to today’s local and national news. Whether it’s sharing a new reading blog we’ve stumbled across or sharing our favorite cookbooks for the holiday season, the Library keeps you connected and informed about the world just outside your door and around the world.

Pinterest

Pinterest took the Internet by storm in 2011, offering people an easy way to “pin” photos and pages from the web in one place where they could share and discover new content with friends. A place to discover new and interesting content? Sounds like a library to us! Our Pinterest page is packed with crafty book ideas, our favorite Library photos, and much more. Our Virtual Library team shares fascinating visual content from our eclectic collection of local history: World War II posters, Victorian Valentine’s Day cards, or scrapbook photos from the 1937 flood—you never know what you’ll find on Pinterest!
