Friends of the Public Library Hosting Third Annual Northgate Mall Used Book Sale March 9-11

For the third year in a row, the Friends of the Public Library will be hosting a used book and record sale at Northgate Mall in March. This year's sale, to be held inside the mall outside the Lazarus entrance, is set for the weekend of March 9-11.

"The mall is a natural setting for people wanting book bargains," said Mary Lu Aft, Book Sale Chair. "There will be thousands of books available, including a wide selection of fiction and nonfiction, as well as children's books, CDs, videos, and records. We will also have a fabulous selection of art prints and posters, suitable for framing."

Proceeds from all Friends' sales benefit the Library by providing for children and adult programming, supporting the summer reading club, and the purchasing of items for the collection. This past summer the Friends provided over $50,000.00 for the summer reading club to present hundreds of programs. Any child who read at least 25 books also received a free book.

Anyone wishing to donate used books and recordings may drop them off year-round at all branch libraries and the Main Library downtown. Special arrangements can be made for pick-up of large donations by calling 665-3314.
