2009 was a year of firsts for the Library! Highlights included passage of the Librarys first successful operating levy, significant national and state recognition, recordbreaking usage, and many customer service enhancements. Eva Jane Romaine Coombe Director Kim Fender summarizes the major milestones of this momentous year.
The Library was recognized for careful spending, accurate fiscal recording, and efficiency with the Ohio Auditors Making Your Tax Dollars Count Award. The Wartime Escape: Margret and H.A. Reys Journey from France, an exhibit on view at the Main Library, uses artwork to tell the story of how the creators of Curious George escaped from France during World War II. The Winter issue of our newsletter, Library Links, is now available. Check out the exciting events planned for the next three months at your Library. Thousands of readers of all ages read Mark Twains classic tale, The Adventures of Tom Sawyer, in October as part of The Big Read. Its cold outside so warm up with a good book. Only a few books reach the top of the fiction bestseller charts, but there are many more terrific new titles available at the Library. Here are a few suggestions for notable new fiction titles. Teens across the country snapped photos of what they love about Cincinnati as part of an annual photo contest. Take a look at all of the winning entries. |
