Our Library was rated a Star Library by Library Journal, the oldest publication covering the
library field. This rating was based on four per capita measures: circulation, visits, program
attendance and Internet use. With this recognition your Library has earned the distinction of being
the only library in the country to be ranked in the top 10 on all library ratings: Star, Hennen,
largest collection, and busiest.

Honoring Our Veterans
|
The immeasurable debt we owe to our veterans is remembered yearly on November 11. To mark the occasion,
George Cordrey, a World War II Marine Corps veteran of the Battle of Iwo Jima, will present the
keynote remarks ("Lest They Be Forgotten") for the 56th Annual Veterans Day Commemoration. The program
will be held at the Main Library atrium on Thursday, November 11 at 10:45 a.m. It will also feature
patriotic music by the Walnut Hills High School Choir, Sheriff Leis' Bagpipe & Drum Corps, Sons of
the American Revolution Color Guard, presentation of Memorial Wreaths, lighting of the Flame of
Remembrance, and Taps.

National Gaming Day
|
On Saturday, November 13, the Library will join hundreds of other libraries around the world
in participating in National Gaming Day @ your library. Each of the Library's 41 locations
will be presenting games and activities for the entire family, including video games, board games,
card games, trivia, puzzles and much more. Also, for the first time, branches will be competing
against each other in online gaming tournaments.

History of Graeter's Ice Cream
|
Graeter's has been making some of the world's best ice cream for more than 140 years.
Join Rich Graeter and Robin Davis Heigel, author of
Graeter's Ice Cream: An Irresistible History,
to get the inside "scoop" on this beloved Cincinnati institution. The program will take place on
Monday, November 15, at 7:00 p.m., in the Huenefeld Tower Room at the Main Library.

Charlie Brown, Snoopy & the Peanuts Gang are coming to the Main Library atrium in a
new exhibit this holiday season from November 15 through January 9, 2011.
Inside Peanuts: The Life and Art of Charles M. Schulz celebrates the cartoonist's extraordinary life
and describes his creative process and artistic focus. And plan to join us for the
Charlie Brown Holiday Party on Saturday, December 4, from 2:00-4:00 p.m. for Peanuts games,

Books by the Banks a Huge Success
|
The fourth annual Books by the Banks book festival, held October 2, was a huge success!
The more than 3,600 people attending had a chance to meet over 100 authors, hear interesting
panel discussions, enjoy crafts and musical performance in the K12 Kids Corner, and more.
