Thinking of buying a Nook or Sony Reader for the book lover on your
holiday shopping list? You aren't alone—e-readers are expected to be
the hot gift of the holiday season! Now's a great time—prices are
dropping, lots of new devices have hit the market recently, and the
selection of downloadable books has exploded.

cartoonist's extraordinary life. Learn how he created the world's

Experience the magic of a puppet show full of holiday cheer with the
Frisch Marionettes!

Zak Morgan's Incredible Holiday Show. Saturday, December 18,
3:00 p.m.: Grammy-nominated children's musician Zak Morgan will
entertain the entire family with a zany holiday show.

BE GREENER—USE EMAIL RECEIPTS

Feel like you're drowning in paper? We've added a convenient new
feature to our self-service checkout machines that makes it possible
for you to request an email receipt for the items you've checked out.
Here's how: the next time you're using one of the self-check machines
to check out material, just touch the "Done - email receipt" button at
the bottom of the screen. The receipt will immediately be sent to the
email address associated with your library card. Haven't added an
email address to your account yet? Not to worry—use our
online form
to update your record.

SIMPLIFY YOUR HOLIDAY SHOPPING
|
Tired of fighting the crowds at the malls and looking at the same old
things as holiday gifts? Then come to the Friends' Shop at the Main
Library where you will find unique items that will delight everyone on
your gift list (and benefit the Library). Choose from exclusive holiday
cards with illustrated images from rare books in the Library's collection,
literary-themed items, unique gifts, jewelry, puzzles & educational
games for all ages. You may also browse a large selection of gently used
books, videos, CDs and DVDs.

MONSTER MADNESS PIX

Every October, area teens are invited to submit creative, unique, or thought-provoking photographs
to the Library's "Teen Photography Contest." This year's "Monster Madness" theme called for teens to
capture the heart of Halloween on camera—from ghosts to vampires and every creature in between!
