Music lovers take note of an exciting new service being offered by your Library. "Download music"
allows you, a card-carrying Library user, to download three songs a week for free from Sony's
extensive catalog of music. You can keep this music forever on a variety of portable media
players, cell phones and more. You can search by Artist, Genre or What's New and you can

1848 RIVERFRONT PANORAMA UNVEILING-MAY 21
|
|
You are invited to a special program celebrating the unveiling of the treasured Cincinnati
Riverfront Panorama of 1848 as it goes on permanent display in the Joseph S. Stern, Jr.
Cincinnati Room. The program, to take place on Saturday, May 21 at 2:00 p.m. in the Main
Library atrium, will feature an illustrated introduction to this remarkable daguerreotype
and explanation of the state-of-the-art conservation treatment. You will also have an opportunity
to use the two interactive, giant touch screens that allow a closer look at Cincinnati's bustling
riverfront in the mid-nineteenth century.

JOIN TEAM READ!

Whether you're 3 or 103, you are invited to join a winning team by being part of the Library's
exciting Summer Reading Program. Players will enjoy two fun-filled months of reading while earning
great prizes, including books, toys, and flash drives. Plus, the more you read, the more chances
you have to win one of 164 sets of four tickets to a baseball game courtesy of the Cincinnati Reds
and 164 sets of four Pool & Ride combo tickets courtesy of Coney Island. You could also win a Nook

BEAT THE BOREDOM WITH BRAIN CAMP
|
School's almost out but that doesn't mean our children's brains have to close down. All sorts
of great free programs will be happening all summer long at the Library, including Brain Camps.
The Main Library and eight branch libraries will offer fun, stimulating, and creative enrichment
activities to engage kids. Brain Camp participants will enjoy computer activities, outdoor play,
books, group lessons, and crafts centered on a weekly theme.

PUT TOGETHER A BUSINESS PLAN
|
|
New and prospective business owners are invited to a free three-part series of instructional
workshops focused on writing business plans presented by SCORE, America's Counselors to Small
Business, and the Library.
Your Business—It Starts with a Plan
will take place at the Main Library on Saturdays, May 14th & 28th, and June 4th, from 9:30 a.m.-1:00 p.m. Experts from the
business world will give an insiders' take on organizational and legal structure, marketing
and financial plans, and effectively managing a small business. In addition, the Library's
subject specialists will demonstrate how to use the Library's free resources to support small
business development.

INDIAN CLASSICAL MUSIC CONCERT
|
Renowned Indian classical musician Mala Ramadorai will perform a free concert of Carnatic
and Hindustani music at the Main Library on Tuesday, May 3 at 7:00 p.m. in the Reading Garden.
Ms. Ramadorai is currently on a tour of North America, conducting performances, lectures, and
musical workshops to bring awareness of Indian culture and a greater appreciation of classical
Indian music. The vocalist, who plays the tambura (large stringed lute) while singing, will be
accompanied by musicians on a variety of traditional instruments, including the tabla and harmonium.

Did you know that you can download all sorts of great ebooks for kids from the Library's collection?
Among recent additions to our series for girls are Nancy Drew titles, Junie B. Jones, Ramona books,
and Judy Moody. The Edge Chronicles, My Teacher…, Shredderman, and Comeback Kids novels are popular
with boys while the Magic Treehouse, Boxcar Children, and My Weird School Daze appeal to both girls
and boys. New to working with our downloadables collection? A great starting point is our Ebook and
Audiobook webpage. There you'll find FAQs, tips for searching for downloadables in our catalog, and
detailed guides for new users. We're also offering a full schedule of classes about working with

The Library presents approximately 15,000 free programs every year that are designed to meet a
variety of needs and interests for all ages, from babies to seniors. A new online program
calendar makes finding a program and registering for it so simple. You can choose how you
want to view programs—in a list, on a calendar template, or in a printable version.
There are multiple ways to search for programs including by keyword, date, location,
presenter, event type or age group. Additional options allow you to email a program to a
friend, download a program to your calendar, register from a hyperlink on the program listing,
ask for a reminder email, and request that similar event types be emailed to you.

RESERVE A MEETING ROOM ONLINE

Did you know that the Main Library and many of our 40 branch libraries have meeting rooms that
are available for groups and individuals to use for free? Now, reserving a Library meeting
room is easier than ever. Customers can check the availability of a meeting room and request
use of it online. It's easy. Just visit

select the room that you want to book, the date, the time, and complete the online form.
Staff will review your form and confirm your reservation by email.

CELEBRATE ARTHUR'S 35TH BIRTHDAY
|
Plan to join us on Saturday, May 7 at 2:00 p.m. at the Main Library to celebrate 35 years of
Arthur with his creator Marc Brown. The author of the #1 New York Times bestselling children's
book series and six-time Emmy Award-winning television series will talk about Arthur, everyone's
favorite aardvark. He'll share how he writes and illustrates his stories and where his ideas
and beloved book characters come from.
Prior to Marc Brown's free presentation, there will be a surprise birthday party for Arthur.
Children and their parents are invited to enjoy a visit and photo with the costumed storybook
character Arthur, lunch, birthday cake, and fun aardvark activities—all for $25 each or $75 for

MEET SUSPENSE AUTHOR BRIAN FREEMAN
|
Lovers of the mystery genre and aspiring writers alike can enjoy a presentation by international
bestselling suspense author Brian Freeman at the Delhi Township Branch Library on
Wednesday, May 4 at 7:00 p.m. Since winning the Macavity Award for best first mystery novel
in 2006 for Immoral, Freeman has released five more critically acclaimed psychological suspense
novels, including his recently released book, The Bone House. He will share anecdotes about the
mystery genre, the creative process, and the ups and downs of a writer's life.
