READING ROCKS AND REWARDS
Gold Star Chilimobile“Reading Rocks!” is the theme of this year’s Summer Reading. Between April 15 and  June 1, the Gold Star Chilimobile will visit 12 Library locations and reward people of all ages for registering early for Summer Reading. Each person who registers for the program during a Chilimobile visit will receive a free coney, courtesy of Gold Star Chili. Click here for a schedule of Chilimobile visits.

MEET AUTHOR ERIK LARSON
Erik LarsonRenowned author, historian Erik Larson will be at the Main Library on Saturday, May 5 at 2:00 p.m. to speak and sign books in the Reading Garden Lounge. Larson is the author of In the Garden of Beasts, The Devil in the White City, Thunderstruck, and Isaac’s Storm. Books will be available for purchase from Joseph-Beth Booksellers. Erik Larson’s visit is sponsored by The Library Foundation and the Library Programs Fund.
APRIL IS NATIONAL POETRY MONTH
Poetry in the Garden birdThe Poetry in the Garden series, sponsored by the Friends of the Public Library, returns to the Main Library's Reading Garden Lounge during National Poetry Month. Talented poets from around the Tristate will read from their work and share their love of poetry. Programs will be held on Tuesdays April 3, 10, 17, and 24 at 7:00 p.m.

Teens are invited to take part in the Library's 10th Annual Random Acts of Poetry Contest from April 1-30, sponsored by Chipotle Mexican Grill and the Friends of the Public Library. Teens ages 12-18 can email their original poems or turn their typed or handwritten poems into any Library location for their shot at prizes! Elementz Hip-Hop Youth Arts Center is partnering with the Library to provide programs for teens on poetry writing and on poetry as a performance art. Visit teenspace for more details. Need URL
EXPLORING THE 1940 CENSUS
1940 Census PosterOn Saturday, April 7 at 2:00 p.m., Patricia Van Skaik, Manager of the Genealogy & Local History Department, will present an introduction to the newly released 1940 census. The program will offer techniques to help family historians get the best search results from this important resource. It will be held in the Genealogy & Local History Department program space on the third floor of the Main Library. Click here for more information.
ADULT EDUCATION FAIR
The Library is partnering with the Regional Association of Adult Higher Education in Cincinnati to host an Education Fair for adults and non-traditional students on Wednesday, April 18 from
11:00 a.m.–6:00 p.m.
in the Main Library Atrium. Representatives from a dozen regionally accredited local colleges and universities who offer degree programs designed to meet the needs of working adults will be on-hand to share information about their programs. Look for more information here.
APRIL IS FINANCIAL LITERACY MONTH
Piggy BankCaring for children ages 3 to 5 is very demanding. To help you teach your youngsters about money basics right from the start, the Library is presenting family workshops as part of its For Me, For You, For Later program, made possible by a PNC Foundation grant. In addition to learning how to develop your child’s understanding of saving, sharing, and spending, the programs will also educate parents and caregivers about additional services located at Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) and Financial Opportunity Centers (FOC) that provide families and individuals with a full range of services and support, from financial coaching to credit counseling.

Two new online resources designed to support financial and business information research were recently added to the Library’s collection.  MergentWebReports offers a comprehensive collection of every Moody's / Mergent Manuals published since 1909. The series includes company annual reports, prospectuses, industry reports, and other company related documents in PDF image formats. Mergent Online includes detailed information on all public companies, both U.S. and worldwide, supplying general company information, financials, EDGAR reports, news articles, annual reports, and a company history.
SAVVY SAVINGS WITH STOCKPILING MOMS
Stockpiling Moms shopping cartStockpiling Moms teach you the basics of strategically using your coupons to save big, eat healthy, and dine out on a dime! Sponsored by the Friends of the Public Library, these free workshops will be offered at six Library locations from         April 16-June 25. Registration is required. Please call the hosting Library directly, or visit programs to sign up.
EL DIA FIESTA FOR CHILDREN’S BOOK DAY
Meet Nickelodeon’s Dora the Explorer and enjoy International Storytime, along with music, dance, crafts, and piñatas! Children ages 12 and under will received a free Dora book while supplies last at El Dia De Los Niños/De Los Libros or Children's Book Day on Sunday, April 29 from 1:00-4:00 p.m. at the Kenton County Public Library Erlanger Branch, 401 Kenton Lands Rd. Enjoy this exciting literacy fiesta celebrating all cultures. The festival is an annual partnership with the Kenton County Public Library and the Public Library of Cincinnati and Hamilton County.
