6th Books by the Banks Book Festival
|
With nearly 100 authors participating in the 6th annual Books by the Banks book festival on Saturday, October 20, it may be difficult to pick a favorite, but here are some you won't want to miss:

Meet Ecologist & Author Sandra Steingraber

As part of the Xavier University’s Exploring Critical Issues series, acclaimed ecologist and author Sandra Steingraber will present “Raising Elijah: Protecting our Children 50 Years after Rachel Carson’s Silent Spring.” She will talk about the relationship between the environment and human rights and health. This free public event will be held on Sunday, October 7 at 7:00 p.m. at the Cintas Center.

The Library is excited to take part in an important survey of arts engagement in Greater Cincinnati, funded by ArtsWave and Agenda 360. The study will help us to better understand how residents in our region engage in a range of different arts activities, such as visiting museums, listening to music online, reading books for pleasure, and making crafts. Teen On the Same Page
|
|
This year's community-wide reading program for teens, Teen On the Same Page, will be held October 1–31. Teens across Greater Cincinnati are invited to read Restoring Harmony by Joëlle Anthony. Selected by area teens, the book is a riveting, fast-paced dystopian tale of a teenage girl’s attempt to rescue her grandparents amid global economic collapse, rampant crime, and abandoned cities.

Meet author Joëlle Anthony, who will visit Cincinnati for free programs with teens, including a talk and book signing at the Main Library on Wednesday, October 17 at 7:00 p.m. Other thought-provoking programs for teens and parents scheduled at various Library locations include book discussions and presentations by Gorman Heritage Farm on urban farming. Shakespeare at the Main Library

Hear ye, hear ye! The Bard is back at the Main Library Tuesdays at 7:00 p.m.! Come join members of the Cincinnati Shakespeare Company for a lively discussion of two upcoming classics. Get the inside track on how they stage their productions—from costume & set design to plot interpretations. Lots of love (and death) will be in the air on October 16 with talk about Romeo & Juliet.
