- Civil War Slave Compensation Claims: Index
- This index, compiled by St Louis County Library, indexes claims brought by loyal slave owners against the Federal Government whose slaves volunteered or were drafted into military service for the Union Cause. The list includes slave name, slave owner’s name, and reference to National Archives microfilm records.
- Freedmen’s Bureau Online
- Information on African American depositors with the Freedmen's Saving and Trust Co., marriages, orphans and police reports.
- Records of Ante-Bellum Southern Plantations from the Revolution Through the Civil War
- UPA, publisher of this collection, lists and gives summary information of microfilmed family papers. Although not comprehensive, this can serve as a helpful starting point in researching plantation records.
- Rootsweb: Slave Archival Collection Database
- Part of Rootsweb, this database collects slave ancestry information such as dates and places of birth and death.
- Slave Movement During the Eighteenth and Nineteenth Centuries
- Provides information on the slave trade during the 18th and 19th centures. The data, which does need to be downloaded, contains information on the ship's port of arrival, date of arrival, master's name, number of slaves, and more.

- AAD: Access to Archival Databases
- Run by the National Archives, this site contains actual name records under select data files, including military listings. Clicking the down arrow on the Subject entry will list several military topics, including "Battle Casualties," "Military Officers" and "Missing in Action." Highlighting a particular topic will lead to specific data files (ex. "Korean Conflict Casualty File") where you can search under an individual's name.
