Deadly Stakes
In Jance’s latest in her Ali Reynolds series (after Left for Dead, 2012), police academy-trained, former reporter Ali investigates two cases: the grisly murder of a gold-digging divorcee and a body found in the Camp Verde desert. In the first case, Lynn Martinson is dating the dead woman’s ex-husband, and she is accused of the crime. In the second, teen A.J. Sanders discovers the body while looking for a hidden box full of hundreds of thousands of dollars in poker chips. Ali must figure out how the cases are related before a killer claims another victim.
