Jamie takes you through his day expressing the emotions he feels as he relaxes on the sofa, deals with his intrusive brothers, shines on the basketball court, eats dinner with his family, and ends the day washing dishes. Told in free verse, his moods are linked to color and food: from “Grape juice drinking / On the couch / Bopping to the beat kind of mood” to “A gray kind of place / Storm brewing inside / That I hide / ‘Cause I don’t want any trouble.” Illustrator Evans’ oil and graphite collages sizzle with motion and vibrant colors. From the author of Around Our Way On Neighbors’ Day (2010) this gives a spirited view of a warm family where rules are followed and sharing is important. Ages 5-7
