Still devastated by the death of her husband and teenage daughter in a car accident five years ago, Julia hopes to find solitude while housesitting her aunt and uncle’s California estate. She begins an unexpected relationship with Roberto, an undocumented immigrant, who oversees the lemon orchard. Roberto connects with Julia over her loss, as he became separated from his daughter during their crossing from Mexico and believes she is dead. But Julia thinks the little girl is still alive and sets out to find her—even if it means losing Roberto.
