Readers who loved Ford’s bestseller Hotel on the Corner of Bitter and Sweet(2009) will rejoice at this long awaited follow-up. 12-year-old Chinese American William Eng has been living at Seattle’s Sacred Heart Orphanage since his mother’s lifeless body was carried away from their apartment five years ago. On his birthday, William and the other orphans are taken to the famous Moore Theatre, where he glimpses a singer on the silver screen named Willow Frost. He’s convinced this woman looks exactly like his mother, and soon William and his best friend, Charlotte, hatch a plan to escape the orphanage and find her.
