My Extraordinary Ordinary Life
Although best known for her Oscar-winning performance as country singer Loretta Lynn in Coal Miner’s Daughter, actress Sissy Spacek’s first love was music. After growing up in Quitman, Texas, she moved to New York City at age 17 with dreams of being a folk singer. She got her big movie break in the horror film Carrie, met her husband on the set of Badlands, and at the height of her fame, she moved to a farm in rural Virginia with her family. “Like a folk song, Spacek’s storytelling is tender and unhurried," writes Publishers Weekly.
