May, 1933. A freak snowstorm hits the city of Seattle. During the storm, a three-year-old boy named Daniel vanishes, leaving behind his grieving single mother. May, 2010. Another sudden May snowstorm--known as a "blackberry winter" storm--occurs. Journalist Claire Aldridge is assigned to write a story comparing and contrasting the two storms, which took place on the same day in May, almost 80 years apart.
