Texting the Underworld

Ellen Booraem

Conor O'Neill is scared of spiders, afraid to play hockey, and anxious about leaving Southie to attend Boston Latin school. When a banshee appears in his room he's convinced someone he loves will die - perhaps his beloved Irish grandfather, Grumps. The banshee, Ashling, is curious about present-day life and insists upon going to school with Conor. Eventually Conor, his sister and Grumps venture into the Underworld to gain power over Life and Death. Booraem balances a serious subject with a comical touch as Ashling interacts in the modern world. A heroic fantasy adventure from the author of The Unnameables (2008) and Small Persons With Wings (2011) Ages 9-12
