A Man of His Own
At the start of World War II, aspiring baseball player Rick Stanton leaves his beloved wife Francesca behind to join the war effort. He also volunteers their dog, Pax, for K-9 duty. Pax is assigned to soldier Keller Nicholson, and the two quickly form a bond. At the end of the war, Rick, now a paraplegic, returns home to Boston. Pax is returned to Rick and his wife, and Keller takes a job as Rick's personal care attendant to be close to the dog he adores. All three adults are lost and in need of healing. Can Pax, with his unwavering loyalty, guide them all home? A lovely read from the author of The Dog Who Danced (2012).
