Writer Lila Emerson's latest house-sitting job provides the opportunity to spy on the neighbors in the building across the street. It’s all innocent fun until she sees one of the couples she’s been watching involved in a violent fight. The woman falls to her death, and the police rule the case a murder-suicide. At the police station, she meets artist Ashton Archer, who tries to convince Lila that his brother, Oliver, was innocent of the crime and recruits her to help him uncover the truth. Roberts' latest is a romantic, suspenseful nod to Alfred Hitchcock’s classic, Rear Window.
