On the 4th of July in his hometown of Aurora, Minnesota, Cork O'Connor and his new wife, Rainy, listen to a desperate voicemail left by Rainy's son, Peter, in which he confesses to the murder of someone named Rodriguez. The following morning, they fly to Arizona, where Peter has been working. No one seems to know Peter in Sulfur Springs. They do, however, recognize the name Rodriguez, the head of a drug cartel. As they investigate, Cork gets the feeling Rainy is holding something back from him. And if he can't trust Rainy, who can he trust? Another pulse-pounding entry in Krueger's (Manitou Canyon, 2016) long-running series.
