Dellarobia Turnbow got pregnant and married her boring husband, Cub, at age 17. Now she’s unhappily married and raising her two children on her in-laws’ struggling sheep farm in Feathertown, TN. On the way to her first extramarital tryst, she is stopped by the sight of a forest ablaze with millions of monarch butterflies. As scientists arrive on her doorstep to do research, she learns that pollution and flooding in the butterflies’ usual Mexican winter habitat have caused them to land in Tennessee, threatening their survival. But their arrival has caused a change in Dellarobia as well. From the author of The Lacuna (2009).
