Drama High:The Incredible True Story of a Brilliant Teacher, a Struggling Town, and the Magic of Theater
Friday Night Lights meets Glee in this incredible story of an extraordinary drama teacher who changed the lives of countless students and inspired a blue-collar town. Harry S. Truman High in Levittown, Pennsylvania was the home of Lou Volpe, whose acting students included drama "regulars," athletes, and talented unknowns. Volpe didn’t shy away from trying out controversial shows like Rent and Spring Awakening, which were then performed in other high schools across the nation. Levittown native and former student Sokolove chronicles the director’s last two years and follows his group of students on and off the stage.
