In the early morning hours of June 28, 1969, a crowd protested a police raid on a gay bar in New York City. The demonstrations that followed have become known as the Stonewall Riot and are commemorated as the beginning of the gay rights movement. From that act of defiance has grown a movement to acknowledge and celebrate the contributions to U.S. and world culture and history from gay, lesbian, bisexual, and transgendered people. Over the years, the Library’s collection has grown to reflect this movement. These recent titles are a sample of the material you will find available.
