Reflections on the River

The Library Celebrates Tall Stacks

Tall Stacks Music Arts and Heritage Festival, one of the nation’s largest and most exciting riverboat festivals, kicks off on October 15. For five days, seventeen riverboats from around the country will line the banks of the Ohio River to celebrate the glorious history of steamboating and mark the important role Cincinnati and the Ohio River played in the settlement of the West.

Throughout Tall Stacks, representatives from the Library will be in McGuffey Circle, one of the ten learning centers in Sawyertown, every day to answer questions about the Library and its services and sign people up for library cards. We’ll also be showing people Three Voices from Cincinnati’s Past, a digital exhibit we created about life in 19th century Cincinnati.

In celebration of Tall Stacks, we’ve lined up a wide variety of programs for adults and children, and a photography contest for teens.

A variety of special displays about the Ohio River and Cincinnati history will be on view at the Main Library and six branches throughout September and October.
