Monica Donath Kohnen was appointed to the Board of Library Trustees by the Hamilton County Commissioners in October 2015 for a full 7-year term. Ms. Kohnen served as Secretary of the Board in 2018, Vice President in 2019 and President in 2020. She currently serves as Chair of the Development Committee and on the Technology and Operations Committees.
A graduate of Duke University with a Bachelor of Arts in Economics, Ms. Kohnen received her Juris Doctor degree from the University of Cincinnati College of Law. A partner at the law firm of Graydon Head & Ritchey LLP, she practices in the areas of business, real estate, construction and banking law.
Ms. Kohnen is recognized as one of the Best Lawyers in America 2007-2015 for her work in Banking & Finance, Corporate and Real Estate law and is consistently recognized as an Ohio Super Lawyer and a Cincinnati Leading Lawyer. She is also recognized with an AV Preeminent Rating, the highest rating given to lawyers by Martindale-Hubbell, and the Ohio State Bar Association also recognizes Kohnen as a Certified Specialist in Business, Commercial and Industrial Real Property Law.
Kohnen currently holds leadership roles on the Boards of the Cincinnati Sight Restoration Foundation, Inc. and The Junior League of Cincinnati and as a Member of the Cincinnati Children’s Hospital Medical Center Planned Giving Committee. Kohnen has previously served on the Boards of Downtown Cincinnati Inc., the Cincinnati Zoo and Botanical Garden, Ursuline Academy and the Hamilton County Board of Building Standards.
Ms. Kohnen is a resident of Hyde Park.
