Father’s Day is a day to celebrate fathers, grandfathers, stepfathers, uncles, pet dads, plant dads, and any other important father figures in your life. Father’s Day started in the state of Washington in June 1910. However, it did wasn’t widely celebrated in the United States until 1972. Father’s Day is now celebrated on the third Sunday of June every year. For dads of all kinds, this day is for you!

Read Together to Promote Early Literacy
Another fun way to celebrate and spend time together is to read. Reading aloud to a child is one of the best things you can do to develop their early literacy skills – and, it’s fun! Start reading with your kids as soon as they are born, or even before! Try to read aloud to your child at least once a day; this helps make reading a habit and shows kids that reading is an important part of everyday life. Reading aloud doesn’t have to stop when your kids are older, either. There is still value in reading aloud to children who already know how to read.
A great way you can promote reading in the house is to let your kids see you reading. Have family reading time every day, and stop by any of our locations – we'll help you discover some new favorite books, or check out some fabulous Father’s Day books below.
