Fancy gift wrap in 4 easy steps

Each day in December at the Downtown Main Library, our staff and community members are whipping up fun DIY projects using our awesome new eLearning, opens a new window platform CreativeBug, opens a new window. CreativeBug provides access to thousands of online art and craft classes that you can watch anywhere with your Library card.

No matter what you’re up to during the winter season, creating things on your own for either yourself or a loved one just feels good. You may even find a few furry friends on hand to further relieve that stress that can come with this time of year. Don't let those winter blues get you down!

We’ll be crafting up a storm making everything from handmade greeting cards, vinyl window clings, and Winter Solstice paper chains, to melting snowmen, book roses, and more. We’ll even have a special lip balm making class from 2-4 p.m. on December 21 and soap making class at the same time on December 28. Come craft with us and share what is meaningful to you on our community tree.

To show you just how fun and easy some of these projects are, we’re sharing one of favorite CreativeBug gift wrapping techniques for giving any package an extra dose of sparkle.

Here’s what you’ll need:

Wrapping paper
Clear tape
Glitter
Confetti
Sequins

Step 1:
Wrap the package.

Step 2:
Sprinkle a mixture of glitter, confetti, and sequins onto the table.

Step 3:
Measure out a length of tape that will go across the package. Cut the tape to suit and dip it into the sparkling mixture until semi-covered.

Step 4:
Place the decorated tape onto the package and give it to someone you love!
