Cincinnati & Hamilton County Public Library Joins OhioCheckbook.gov

COLUMBUSOhio Treasurer Robert Sprague today announced that the Cincinnati & Hamilton County Public Library has joined OhioCheckbook.gov.

“OhioCheckbook.gov provides a streamlined resource for taxpayers to access public spending data at both the state and local levels,” said Treasurer Sprague. “I am pleased to welcome the Cincinnati & Hamilton County Public Library to the OhioCheckbook.gov platform, and I applaud the library’s commitment to transparency.”

The Cincinnati & Hamilton County Public Library is the 46th public entity in Hamilton County to join OhioCheckbook.gov. The library’s online checkbook includes more than 53,000 individual transactions that represent nearly $133 million in spending from January 2018 through December 2019.

“The Library has always taken the stewardship of taxpayers' money very seriously,” said Paula Brehm-Heeger, the Eva Jane Romaine Coombe Director of the Library. “We are gratified that with Ohio Checkbook our customers are now able to see how we spend funds in order to bring them the materials, services, and resources they’ve come to rely on. The knowledge this transparency provides is valuable to everyone in Cincinnati and Hamilton County.”

OhioCheckbook.gov was launched in June 2020. The new transparency website combined OhioCheckbooone-stop resourcek.com (previously administered by the Treasurer’s office) and Ohio’s Interactive Budget (previously operated by the Office of Budget and Management) to create a single,  for taxpayers to learn more about spending at the state and local levels of government.

By streamlining website administration, eliminating duplication, and reducing overall operating costs, OhioCheckbook.gov will keep government transparency at taxpayers’ fingertips for years to come.
