Donors’ investment in Summer Adventure is investment in future

Summer Adventure is underway and thousands of people are reading and participating in events. The Public Library of Cincinnati and Hamilton County and the Library Foundation are grateful to all the corporate sponsors and community partners that help make this year’s educational events possible.

“We are fortunate in Cincinnati that local businesses and foundations realize the importance of preventing the ‘summer slide’ and step up to help the Library engage kids during the summer months so they’re ready to succeed in the fall at school,” said Paula Brehm-Heeger, the Eva Jane Romaine Coombe Director of the Library.

Summer Adventure began June 1 and runs through July 31. Participants receive a passport in which to record reading time plus time spent in activities like visiting local museums and attractions, watching or playing sports, exploring nature, and attending community events. People check in at their Library each week to earn a prize. In just the first two weeks, 24,882 people registered, 33,125 check-ins were recorded, a 114 percent increase in participation over this time period last year.

The Library depends on the following generous sponsors to provide prizes for Summer Adventure. Sponsors also fund the personnel, curriculum, and equipment needed to hold free educational Brain Camps and STEAM Adventure Space Cadet programs.
