Greenhills Branch Library moving to bigger facility

The Greenhills Branch, part of the Public Library of Cincinnati and Hamilton County library system, is moving to a new, larger location. The move comes after heavy rains damaged the former rental facility. The Library Board of Trustees approved a motion to relocate at their meeting Oct. 11.

The former location in the Greenhills Shopping Center closed for repairs Aug. 25 after heavy rains caused a leak in the roof, which in turn damaged the ceiling. The branch is moving to a 2,325-square-foot space in the Greenhills Community Building, owned and operated by Winton Woods City Schools.

“This relocation is an unexpected but exciting opportunity to expand the collection and services available to the Greenhills community,” said Kimber L. Fender, the Eva Jane Romaine Coombe Director of the Library. “We look forward to reopening soon in this larger space and we want to thank Winton Woods Schools for their generosity.”

“Libraries and schools share a common mission to better the communities they serve,” said Winton Woods Schools Community and Public Engagement Coordinator Corina Denny. “Winton Woods City Schools is excited to join the Public Library of Cincinnati and Hamilton County in accommodating the Greenhills Branch as it works diligently to serve library patrons and community members. This kind of partnership is a natural extension of the roles schools and libraries play in sharing knowledge and promoting education.”

Library service in Greenhills began in 1939. The Greenhills Branch Library moved to the former rental space at 7 Endicott St. since 1954.

The exact date on which the relocated branch will reopen is not yet known. Residents can check CincinnatiLibrary.org for updates. Customer holds are available for pickup at the Forest Park Branch Library, located at 655 Waycross Road.
