Library Board elects new officers for 2015

At its Dec. 9 Annual meeting, the Board of Trustees of the Public Library of Cincinnati and Hamilton County elected new officers for 2015: Paul G. Sittenfeld, president; Elizabeth H. LaMacchia, vice president; and Allen G. Zaring IV, secretary.

Paul G. Sittenfeld was elected president of the Board of the Public Library of Cincinnati and Hamilton County. He is Managing Director/Portfolio Manager for Robert W. Baird and Company. Mr. Sittenfeld was appointed by the Hamilton County Commissioners to the board in 2009 and is an active volunteer locally and nationally with a special interest in educational institutions. He is currently a board member of the Peterloon Foundation, Cincinnati Parks Foundation, Shakertown in Kentucky, Chatfield College and Everybody Rides Metro.  In addition, he is the board chair of DePaul Cristo Rey High School and the Fund for Independent Schools of Cincinnati. He is a resident of East Walnut Hills.

Elizabeth H. LaMacchia was elected vice president of the Library Board. Mrs. LaMacchia joined the board in 1998 and was a director of the Friends of the Public Library from 1988–1998. She has chaired numerous fundraisers and received several distinguished awards for her contributions to the Cincinnati area, including Enquirer Woman of the Year, the Philanthropic Award for Cincinnati Conservatory of Music, and the Celebrating a Century of Service award from the Girl Scouts. She resides in Indian Hill.

Allen G. Zaring IV was elected secretary of the Library Board. He joined the board in 2010. Mr. Zaring previously served as Director of the Library Foundation and as Chairman of the Foundation Board. In addition, Mr. Zaring served on the Library Levy Campaign Committee in 2009. He is a commodity trading advisor specializing in global currencies and serves as Chief Operating Officer for Absolute Return Strategies Ltd. Mr. Zaring is also a member of the finance and capital committees of Cincinnati Children’s Hospital Medical Center, and is on the Board of Directors of the Harvard Business School Alumni Association. He resides in Columbia Tusculum.
