Library brings local music, dancers to 36th annual St. Patrick’s Day Celebration

The Public Library of Cincinnati and Hamilton County is celebrating Irish heritage with a variety of performances during its annual St. Patrick’s Day event.

The Main Library, located at 800 Vine Street downtown, is hosting the 36th Annual St. Patrick’s Day Celebration of Song and Dance 11:45 a.m. Friday, March 16. This family-friendly tribute to Irish culture, sponsored by the Friends of the Public Library, features music by Dark Moll and a performance by the McGing Irish Dancers. Reserved seating is available for Friends of the Public Library members by calling 513-369-6035.

Dark Moll has performed in the greater Cincinnati area for 20 years and is composed of friends, from Cincinnati's Riley School of Irish Music, who joined forces to perform traditional Irish music. Its members are Susan Monroe, Tim Clarke, Geoff Maher, Dave Gilligan and Susan Cross Gilligan.

Since its founding in 1977, the McGing Irish Dancers have produced two World Champion Solo Dancers and a World Champion Team, which made them the first school in North America to have a Female, Male and Team World Champion and ranks them as one of the most prestigious dancing programs in the world. The McGing Irish Dancers have performed in Hollywood for the late Gene Kelly, danced in the Soviet Union and toured with the Cincinnati Pops. The McGing Irish Dancers have grown to become a household name in the city of Cincinnati.
