Library helping immigrants prepare for citizenship test

The Public Library of Cincinnati and Hamilton County is offering a new class to help immigrants from Hamilton County and surrounding areas to prepare for the U.S. citizenship test. The five-session class begins Thursday, March 1, at the Main Library, 800 Vine St., in downtown Cincinnati.

The class is for adults ages 18 years and older with lawful and continuous permanent residency in the United States for at least five years, and who have been physically present in the U.S. for 30 months, with at least three months living in the same state or district.

The class covers topics for the U.S. citizenship test including civics and American history, English reading and English written vocabulary. The test itself is not be administered as part of the class. The test is only administered by the U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services.

Classes are Tuesdays and Thursdays at 3 p.m. March 1-15 in the Adult Learning Center of the North building. Registration is encouraged as class size is limited.
