Teachers can now download multiple copies of books from Public Library

Tristate teachers will now be able to download multiple copies of the same book for their students with a new service available from the Public Library of Cincinnati and Hamilton County. This service is an option for any educator who signs up for an Educator Card with the Library.

The new service will mean that the teacher can obtain card numbers linked to their educator card. The teacher can then assign these card numbers to his or her students for the downloading of Library materials on personal or school-owned mobile devices. The teacher will be able to track what students download. The student numbers will expire each year on Aug. 1.

The Educator Cards have been provided by the Library for a number of years and allow teachers to check out up to 150 items (excluding videocassettes and DVDs) and to request special collections of materials that are assembled and delivered to the school by the Library.

Teachers, homeschoolers, school librarians, and certified Type-B in-home child care providers who wish to use the new downloadable service must first obtain an Educator Card.  Applications can be done online or in-person at any of the 41 Library locations.  A photo ID and verification of employment at an educational facility for the current school year are required. Individuals with disabilities who are not able to visit the Library may apply by mail.
