Vinyl Printer/Cutter

Our vinyl printer/cutters are great for a variety of large-format printing projects. You also can create cut contours on your project, allowing you to further customize your design. Banners, bumper stickers, pictures, decals, and window clings are just some of the projects you can make. Both printers are identical in terms of quality and speed.

Features

  • Eight-channel print head
  • Large-format printing and contour cutting
  • Water, UV, and scratch resistant for up to three years outdoors
  • Print-on material available in the Library for purchase: outdoor banner vinyl, removable adhesive vinyl, glossy paper, clear and white adhesive vinyl, clear, and white static cling. All materials are 30 inches in width with a printable area of approximately 28 inches.

What You'll Need

Use of the vinyl printer is free, however there is a cost for materials. The Roland VersaWorks software that controls the printer/cutter can help you crop, scale, flip, and multiply your prints. Still, it’s best to have your design ready when you arrive.

Making a reservation, opens a new window for a Digital Creation Station beforehand is a great idea. Or come in early so staff can look files over before the reservation starts. Photoshop, Illustrator, and even Microsoft Office products can all be used to create designs as long as the file is saved in the proper format (PDF, JPG, or TIFF). The adhesive and static cling material also can have a perforation cut performed after printing—allowing you to more easily peel and remove your design.

A staff member is required to prepare the machine for you.

Cost

  • Vinyl: $2 per linear foot. This includes:
    • Any white/blank/extra space
    • Failed prints due to design error
    • Prints that do not complete before a reservation expires
    • All material usage is rounded up to the next foot. For example, a 5-foot 3-inch print is rounded up to 6 feet/$12.
  • Grommets: $0.25 per grommet (available only at the Downtown Main Library MakerSpace)

Station Reservations

Please note:

  • Customers are permitted one 120-minute session per day.
  • There is a 10-minute grace period before reservations are automatically cancelled.
  • The computer shuts off and the printer stops printing when a session expires.
  • Reservations can be made up to six weeks in advance.
  • Book ahead! The vinyl printer is extremely popular. Typical wait times average four to five weeks.

Don’t have a reservation? Ask a staff member in the MakerSpace to add your name to the standby list. If an appointment is missed or extra time is available at the end of another customer’s session, you may be able to use the printer. The standby list is only available in person. You must be present if/when availability opens up.
